Good Friday
April 18 @ 12:00 pm

The Chief Service on Good Friday traditionally begins at noon and continues for three hours reflecting on the words of Jesus from the cross. Immanuel’s service will begin at noon, however the length will be shorter. We will reflect on the words of Jesus as we witness once more our Savior on the cross to die for the sins of the whole world. Join us for this somber service that assures us that God has dealt with our sins once and for all and Jesus did this willingly out of love for you.
Our second service on Good Friday will be an adaptation of the traditional Tenebrae Vespers. The candles in the sanctuary are extinguished throughout the service to signify the growing darkness of the world leading to Jesus buried in the tomb. The service will begin at 6:30pm and will include choral music, prayers, and reflection. The service will conclude with the strepitus or “loud sound” signifying the closing of the tomb.
